We are a Community Interest Company. Every donation goes into archiving, education and the upkeep of the monument.

Where your money goes

Four things, all of them dull

No salaries are paid from donations. There is no office to heat.

    Archival-standard storage and digitisation for photographs and documents entrusted to us by families.

  2. 02

    Professional translation, so testimony can be read in the language it was given in.

  3. 03

    Travel and materials for school sessions, which are free to state schools.

  4. 04

    Cleaning, repair and floral tribute at the monument.

How to give

Donate by bank transfer

Bank transfer is the way we can accept donations today. It carries no card-processing fee, so the full amount reaches the Centre.

We will acknowledge every donation we can identify. We do not share donor details with anyone.

Time

Archive assistants, translators, community educators and monument stewards. Translation is the most acute gap; it is the reason large parts of this site are still only in English.

Volunteer roles

Material

Papers, photographs and objects from families. Scanning is free, originals go back to you the same day, and nothing is published without written consent.

Deposit material

A room, a van, an hour of legal advice

In-kind help. Meeting space in Newcastle, transport for exhibition boards, professional advice from someone who normally charges for it.
