Survivor testimonies
Accounts given by survivors and by the families who inherited their silence.
Testimony is published only with the informed consent of the speaker or their family. Where consent was given for research use but not for open publication, the record appears here as a catalogue entry only, and can be consulted at the Centre by appointment.
Giving testimony
It does not have to be a recording
Some people want a camera and two hours. Others want to write it down, or to talk to one person with a notebook, or to say only the parts they can bear and stop. All of that is testimony and all of it is worth having. You set the terms: what is recorded, what is published, what is kept closed for a period of years, and whether your name appears at all.
